Opened in 2011, ‘The Heights of China’ is a new extension of the ZooParc de Beauval, which has been luxuriously fitted out and richly decorated. Its outstanding architecture is inspired by the building styles of the Chinese Sichuan province. There are varnished tiles, arched roofs, and traditional Chinese lanterns, huge vases made of china, impressive marble lions, and an extravagant 5m tall pagoda. The oriental trees and bamboo complete this colourful space, which is ready to welcome the pandas!
Several other species live within this part of the zoo, representing the variety of animals that live in China. There are a couple of beautiful snow leopards and their young, a family of red pandas, majestic Steller’s sea eagles, and also takin, strange cousins of goats that live in the mountains.
